Reviews by people who visited us

Many of these reviews come from people who visited K. during the early stages of the project. At the time, he was exploring different ways to bring his vision to life. He opened his home not just to those interested in joining the project, but also to anyone curious about the idea, the city of Freiburg, or simply wanting to connect. It was a way for people to experience the environment firsthand and get to know K., how he thinks, how he lives, and the kind of community he’s working to create.

My Time in Freiburg

I stayed at K. place in Freiburg for about a week at the end of September.

I couldn’t believe how much K. poured into the experience for me. First off, he paid double his rent so he could host some guys from an obscure internet forum at his place. He was always prioritizing time to hang out, approach, and show me around. There is something so insanely valuable about traveling somewhere you know a local. He deeply knows the nuances of the city. He showed me tons of great German food - schnitzel, mett, lange rote, spätzle, etc. He brought me to bars, restaurants, introduced me to his friends, and gave me great recommendations.

I really valued the time I had with him. He’s a serious guy who’s taking a lot of action with a great sense of humor. I’ve never had someone wing me for an extended period but it was so much fun.

Freiburg is an excellent city. Clean, charming, surrounded by nature, young and lively. It’s known as the sunniest city in Germany. The city is very walkable and has a great train system. It’s not a megacity but it has so much to offer. It feels like an authentic European city you could imagine yourself living in.

If you want to explore a beautiful city nestled in the hills of the Black Forest.

If you’d like to experience German culture with someone who knows it firsthand.

If you want someone who will support and push you to improve on your goals.

Then visit K. in Freiburg. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

My experience

I spent 10 days in Freiburg with K. and had a blast. First of all I want to say that K. is a perfect, very gracious host who did his best to make my stay as enjoyable as possible even though I told him multiple times I only need a bed and a desk lol.

Freiburg itself is a (stereo?)typical German city/town surrounded by beautiful nature, lots of parks, a young population, and idyllic scenes. I greatly enjoyed my time there, and without this opportunity I probably would've never travelled so far into Southern Germany. Everyone speaks great English and I had more time here to build an actual life, I could greatly enjoy it.

10 Days in Freiburg

I came by train from Sweden, which I wouldn’t really recommend. It’s long, tiring, and the trains are often late. But if you're moving half your life and you want the cheapest option, it might be worth it.

The first thing that hit me was the beauty. The station is placed high up in the city, so right away you can see parts of Freiburg and the surrounding hills. It’s stunning. Then we walked to a restaurant nearby, also elevated, and from there the views were even better. Freiburg is honestly one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to. Hills, rivers, greenery, old European architecture. It’s got it all. And every day I saw some new corner of the city that was just wow. I don’t say this lightly.

The city has a youthful energy. It’s full of students and young people, and you feel that in the streets. People walking, biking, hanging out. It’s a walkable and bikeable city. Lots of pedestrian areas, and when it’s sunny, the vibe is amazing with lots of people out.

The house, the members and the project

The apartment itself was great. It’s big, every room is spacious, the kitchen is big and has two refrigerators, and there’s even a balcony. We only had one toilet, which sounds like a problem, but it really wasn’t. The walls are a bit thin, but overall the place is very livable.

The location of the house is great too. There’s a tram stop 5 minutes away, and you’re in the city center within 15 to 20 minutes. It’s also right near the river, close to hiking trails, and nature is everywhere. You also have a grocery store nearby, so for day-to-day living, it’s very easy and beautiful.

What really stood out though was the vibe inside the house. I’ve had long-term issues with procrastination, but those 10 days were different. The energy of K., the presence of T, and just the seriousness of the house helped me focus and be productive. I didn’t even need to use blockers on my phone. I was busy approaching, working on my CV, applying for jobs and researching for a course. If procrastination is something you struggle with, this project might be the best decision you could make. I made big progress with women, health, and self-discipline in the little time I was there.

K. is an awesome guy. He combines a sort of calm, self-grounded confidence with this go-getter, no-excuses attitude. He’s disciplined with himself, but he’s also incredibly kind and generous with others. He gave me hours of his time, helping me with job applications, talking through personal stuff, encouraging me without ever babying me. He’s the kind of guy who knows his own flaws, and he builds systems around them. He says himself that he doesn’t have perfect discipline, which is why he’s put so many structures in place. Accountability, social pressure, house rules. And those structures work.

I got along great with the other member of the project, B.. He was an awesome guy and I had no complaints about him. I got along with him as much as I did with K., if not more. We had lots of meals together. Long talks about history, politics, and women.

Job search and economics

I did a basic job hunt, and even without German, I got 2 serious leads in the hospitality industry. If I had stayed longer and searched harder, I’m confident I would’ve landed something. Also, Basel is nearby, and you can commute there, which gives you access to Swiss salaries while living with German costs. That’s a huge plus.

Groceries are cheaper than Sweden. Restaurants are a bit more expensive, maybe 10 to 20 percent more. Alcohol is much cheaper. Rent is normal for a European city. Overall, it’s affordable, especially considering what you get in return. Scenery, nature, vibe, growth.

Random highlights

Hiking into the Black Forest and taking a drink at the restaurant up the hills

Partying with K’s ‘alcoholic’ friend and clubbing

A cold river bath with K. and B. in the morning after the night out clubbing

Eating at a Moroccan restaurant and having a deep talk with K. the night before leaving

Why I Didn’t Join (And Why You Should)

Honestly, this trip opened my eyes. It showed me what kind of life is possible when you’re in the right environment and take action. Living with serious men, pushing each other, and creating that upward spiral is powerful. You grow faster, you enjoy life more, and you start becoming the person you were meant to be.

I didn’t end up joining because of some personal issues and responsibilities with my family back home. But honestly, if I didn’t have those ties, I would’ve stayed. Without hesitation. The house, the city, the people. Everything about it felt like a place where I could build something real. The progress I made was incredible. Living with K. and being in this project is something truly worth making sacrifices for.

If you’re someone who struggles with procrastination, or who’s been stuck in theory, or who knows you’re capable of more but just can’t seem to get moving, go visit the house.

My Experience of Freiburg

As detailed in my last post on my log, the week I spent in Freiburg with K. was one of the most memorable and fun of my life so far.

I had previously met K. in person briefly as we were situated quite close, but the rapport was excellent so we said we'd plan for me to come visit the city at some point. Things happened and my schedule freed up (massively lol) so a week at the end of February was set.

By reputation and previous reviews from others about K. I had very positive expectations, although of course my usual self-doubt reservations about myself. K. helped me blow those out of the water and well past my expected outcomes as well.

We spent an entire week together for the most part, and at no point did characters clash, which can happen fairly often when you spend a lot of time with someone new.

I can' stress enough how much K. was a gracious host went out of his way to facilitate everything, especially giving up his time, sharing his flat.

He's also just a funny and awesome dude to be around and we laughed a lot. Great energy.

As others have mentioned previously, Freiburg is a lovely city, with a great population size.

And I came in low season, and being Germany's sunniest city, it is probably the place to be in the summer.

I'm seriously considering joining the project myself, hoping the the next few weeks will help me get a better idea on which career and location direction I want to pursue. I would want to be able to contribute something to others on the project as well, which I'm thinking about how to do at the moment.

I broke a lot of mental barriers and had a shit ton of fun just hanging with one other person who shared a similar mindset and objectives, so I can imagine having 2-3 other guys in a house where we all build each other up in dating, socialising, fitness, business and just having fun a long the way would be a once in a lifetime experience.

Can't vouch for K. enough, and would recommend anyone who the project sounds appealing to to seriously consider.

My personal opinion on Freiburg

Hey guys,

So, I just thought of giving a quick opinion on Freiburg, as it's the city picked for this project. The city itself is pretty and clean, I really like the old town. There are a lot of nice dating spots, a couple of parks, and pubs & bars everywhere that serve good beer! :)

Logistics and transports are good around there, but parking my car without feeling ripped off was a challenge because most parkings are insanely expensive for Germany (up to €30 a day!!!).

There's a nice nightlife going on even if I'm not a fan of clubs because I hate having my ears mistreated by some loud & shitty music. I was surprised that the venue we visited with K. actually had more girls than guys! Usually it's the opposite in most venues. On the other hand, I really liked the pubs we visited and the rooftop bar Skajo is definitely my favorite.

All in all, I give Freiburg a solid 7/10 and I never thought I would rate a German city so highly TBH. It's pretty and tons of cool places to visit.

Staying for 4 nights in Freiburg with K.

It's hard to describe how much I loved living with K., staying up past midnight talking about feelings and insecurities with K, being taught how to properly butter a pretzel by Kn, drinking local beer and eating local flammkuche with K., and being sent into the depths of a black forest hike by K.

The previous commenters already covered it, but he really is very no-nonsense while also being full of life. There's an unshakeable energy in him that values in-person connection, community, sex, and the beauty in little things, which came out the most in his enthusiasm for showing me all the little details of Freiburg & black forest life.

His strongest feature is that he simply goes for it and tries to get it done no matter what. He knows success comes from daring to fail, and he has the results to show for it.

I also loved going out on the town with him - eating, drinking, taking in the vibe, being told the history of the place, walks through parks. I was actually surprised as fuck that he'd only been living there three years because it felt like he'd grown up there.

Freiburg overall feels very, very liveable. The combination of nature, modernism, comfy vibes, and optimism are 10/10. There's a reason it's hard to find housing. There's no language barrier, pretty much everyone speaks english.

K. is a true believer in community and in person socializing. Sleepless nights debating its merits and having him slap the phone out of my hands over and over (metaphorically) convinced me it comes from deep inside him rather than just being a flimsy logical decision.

I'm convinced that if you have even the slightest inclination to team up with other people to get shit done, K. is the guy to team up with.

I also met B., the other Brotherhood roommate-to-be and got along great with him.

I absolutely recommend anyone come visit K. and stay with him, and if you're European and aligned with his goals, to really strongly consider joining his project.
